Today marked the start of the annual cactus potting competition where in every resident of San Isidoro under 35 is required to participate. As per tradition, gloves are not allowed to be used, but this year marks a special anniversary so the town council decided that pants are also not allowed.
Everyone was outside today partaking in the opening festivities from the traditional banana bobbing to the cactus juice squashing. Cactus juice is not only a great way to beat the heat, but its also an amazing source of vitamin E.
All the youth went out to the cactus grounds at noon to pick only the finest cactus to pot during the summer. This year there were only 4 wildcat related injuries and about one death attributed to poison ivy. Remember folks, cacti and poison ivy are different things!

The winner of the cactus pickings this year was young Bart Whitysin, and he designed the tagline for this year's competition. His tagline is depicted above, it is clear and bright - just like Bart's future!
The winner of the cactus potting competition will be announced at the end of the summer months, which is during the bi-decade power shortage. We hope to see some healthy competition this year!
Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and adept at planting cacti.
